• Prepare the site properly before spreading a new topsoil
• Never spread the new soil over a compacted base
• Loosen up the base soil first
• Heavy clay - spread 1 kg per m2 of Gypsum, then rip or work deeply with a garden fork
• The soil should be damp - but not so wet that it crumbles, deforms and smears
• Always mulch after laying soil or new plantings
