What is food organics recycling?
Commercial Food Organics recycling is the collection and processing of food related organics into high quality composted products.
This is achieved though separating the used food organics from the waste stream at the source of collection. This material is then separately collected and transported to Jeffries EPA licensed facilities.
Once processed, the finished products are utilised by private gardeners, landscape contractors and horticultural farmers to add valuable carbon, reduce water loss and provide nutrient replenishment to soil, closing the loop from where the food was first produced.
what can be included in commercial food organics recycling?
Any food organic materials that are no longer required can be included in commercial food organics recycling.
This may be because they are out of date, spoiled, excess to requirements or damaged.
In simple terms, anything that once was living or was from something living, can be recycled in the Commercial Food Organics stream.
Contamination from plastics, string, polystyrene, shrink wrap and any other non organic materials must be prevented to enable recycling of this stream to occur.
Even a small quantity of contamination will render a full load unrecyclable due to the stringent requirements in the finished products.
