Many readers will have visited the Adelaide Zoo since its new entrance opened, though they may not realise that South Australia’s largest rooftop garden is right above the queues of people waiting to get inside.

Landscape Construction Services (LCS) was contracted for the project. Jeffries supplied 400 tonnes of Jeffries Special Soil, 240 cubic metres of Jeffries Forest Mulch, and 220 cubic metres of lightweight Jeffries Hydrocell—the ideal product for a rooftop garden.

To help keep this major landscaping project to its tight deadlines, the Jeffries Express Blower pumped soil directly onto the rooftop and spread mulch around.

This unique vehicle stores and spreads Jeffries products for many hard-to-access sites, sometimes providing the only viable solution to get the job done.

Steve Hudson, LCS project manager, said, ‘the site had very limited access and hardly any space to store soil. With the Express Blower, product could be moved directly from the truck to the beds and didn’t take up any extra room. It was a very efficient way to work.’ This freed up the team to focus on more productive work, saving many wheelbarrow trips!
